Collection consists of personal and business correspondence and records of various members of the De Peyster family, particularly Abraham (1657-1728), Frederick (1758-1834), and Frederic (1796-1886). Numerous other members of the De Peyster and related families, their friends, business associates, etc. are also represented. The materials reflect the De Peyster's extensive activity in acquiring, managing, and selling property; a wide variety of business dealings and investments; estate settlements and other legal matters; and the life of a socially prominent New York family.
